| | Dear Friends of Lake School:
We extend a very warm welcome back to all our cyberspace visitors. Lake School is a special place with outstanding opportunities for students to grow academically, physically, emotionally and socially. We have an outstanding staff dedicated to the success of all our students.
I have copied a few ideas from the Department of Education that might help you facilitate a better learning environment at home for your student:
What We Can Do To Help Our Children Learn - Listen to them and pay attention to their problems
- Read with them.
- Tell family stories.
- Limit their television watching.
- Have books and other reading materials in the house.
- Look up words in the dictionary with them
- Encourage them to use an encyclopedia.
- Share favorite poems and songs with them.
- Take them to the library - get them their own library cards.
- Take them to museums and historical sites, when possible.
- Discuss the daily news with them.
- Go exploring with them and learn about plants, animals, and local geography.
- Find a quiet place for them to study.
- Review their homework.
- Meet with their teachers.
We are all looking forward to a wonderful 2007/2008 school year. Remember, daily attendance is a must! It's number one on the road to school success.
