School Reopening Update

Hello Lake Families and Community,

Today Governor Newsom announced new criteria districts must follow to return to in-person education.  These criteria are based on the number of COVID-19 cases, hospital capacity, increase in hospitalization, and average number of tests per day.  If we were to use these criteria today, we would be required to offer only Distance Learning for our students.

Thankfully, we have time to shift these numbers and allow Lake to open its doors again to our students, but we need to work together to decrease the spread of COVID-19.

To help shift these numbers, please wear a face covering in public or when not with immediate household family members, wash your hands regularly, and possibly most important, stay home when you are sick.

Rest assured that the Lake Staff are working hard to prepare the best possible education for your child when school begins in September. As shared in an email last week, we have a team convening to develop a reopening plan. Today’s press conference by the governor gives us more information as we outline our plan for 2020-21.

Lastly, a COVID-19 state testing site is opening on Tuesday, July 21, at Orland Memorial Hall. This testing is open to the public, by appointment, Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.

Appointments can be made by phone or online:

Working together, we can remove Glenn County from the state’s list of monitored counties, which will allow us to return to in-person schooling with safety precautions. Our goal is to see our Lake Panthers face-to-face in September.
