message from principal

Hello Lake Families. By now, you should have received an email from me that included a link to the Back to School video of your child’s teacher. If you did not receive that, please send me an email message at nbaker@lakeschool.org so I can confirm your email address.

School will begin on Thursday, August 12. The gates will open at 7:45 a.m. Remember, PTO is helping us host a Back to School Breakfast event. We hope you can join us for cinnamon rolls and scones on Thursday as we welcome back our Lake Panthers and welcome our newest class of kindergarten students.

At 8:00 a.m., classroom doors will open for everyone. Please use this time to visit your child’s classroom, get to know the teacher, as well as pick up materials that will be on your child’s desk. These items will include the school handbook, this year’s calendar, and other materials from the teacher.

At 8:30 a.m., we will all head out to the blacktop for our first school assembly of the year. I anticipate the assembly ending around 9:15 a.m. At that time, we will send students to their classrooms and encourage parents to head home or back to work so we can get started with our day.

Both Thursday and Friday this week are full days with dismissal at 2:55 p.m. SPARK, our after school program, will be in full session from after school to 6:00 p.m. Ms. Ellen will be calling all parents tomorrow to confirm enrollment. If you don’t hear from her tomorrow, please call the school on Tuesday to ensure enrollment.

For families who live within district boundaries, Shannon has added a transportation registration form to the website. This is for those who want bus service. The survey can be found on the website. Simply click Menu, Serving You, and then the Transportation link. You will find the form on this page.

Remember that every student eats free this year. The lunch menu for this week has been posted to the website and the app. You can find them under Dining on both the website and the app. We will be uploading the monthly menu this week.

Please remember to complete the Parent Portal. The information you provide is vital to us. Try to complete the registration process before Thursday. Again, the class with the highest percentage of completion will be recognized somehow, I’m thinking pizza party, but not sure yet.

To all our new students, including our kindergarten class, we encourage students to wear Panther blue t-shirts on Fridays. We will have those available for purchase on Thursday, or you can stop by the school this week to pick up yours before they are sold out. T-shirts are just $10.

Lastly, I have created a letter template for those who may be interested regarding our stance to attend school with choice regarding masks. That template can be found under Menu, then scroll all the way down to Public Health, then click on Public Health Guidance for K-12. I included names and addresses of those we feel need to hear the message. Feel free to send to others you feel are important as well.

Please remember to follow us on Facebook, download our app, and check the website's Live Feed for up-to-date information.
