"December 7, 1941 a date which will live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan." A quote from then president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the day after the attack of Pearl Harbor. The Library of Congress is a great resource for historical events. This link provides primary sources, including a dispatch from Admiral Husband Edward Kimmel, Commander in Chief of the United States Pacific Fleet, announcing the raid. A great talking point at tonight's family dinner. https://www.loc.gov/item/today-in-history/december-07/
