Good evening, Lake School Families.
-We want to remind parents that repeatedly signing your child out thirty minutes or more before the end of the day may be considered truancy, similar to tardies. While we have been lenient in the past, we've observed this happening more frequently, resulting in valuable learning time being missed for your students. Going forward, we will be tracking multiple early releases to ensure the best educational experience for all students. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Here’s what’s happening for the week of April 22-26.
-Monday is Earth Day.
-Tuesday the 23rd, the 6th grade class is taking a field trip to see the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, the Sacramento River Cats. Sixth grade parents, please refer to the yellow paper reminder that went home last week. There will be no morning or afternoon bus transportation offered this day.
-Wednesday is a minimum day with dismissal at 12:15.
-Friday morning, we will be practicing our safety drills. Later that same day, the 7th and 8th grade Lake Panthers will be hosting another home softball game versus the Plaza Pirates, starting at 12:45.
-Have a wonderful evening, and we look forward to seeing everyone at school this week.

Tuesday, March 26th, brings our usual salad and fruit options in the cafeteria, along with the cook's chosen daily entree of a Walking Taco
Wednesday, March 27th, is a minimum day for our students. They will be dismissed at 12:15 PM. Before they head home, they'll enjoy a lunch of Uncrustables, carrots, and fresh fruit.
Thursday, March 28th, is an exciting day for our students. The 4th graders will be heading North to visit the William B. Ide Adobe State Park for a day of exploration and historical learning. Additionally, our 8th graders will have the opportunity to visit their future campus at Orland High School. The OHS marching band will help load them onto the Orland High bus in the morning. Lunch on Thursday will be a comforting serving of macaroni & cheese.
Finally, on Friday, March 29th, we will be enjoying our annual Easter Egg Hunt, thanks to our hard-working and dedicated PTO. This will be our bye week for softball games. We are off to a great start to the season, filled with fun and great sportsmanship. French bread pizza for lunch on Friday.
As warmer weather approaches, please take a moment each morning to ensure your child's clothing aligns with Lake's dress code before they head off to school. It's important to maintain a positive and respectful learning environment for all students.
Thank you for your continued support in making Lake Elementary School a great place for our students to learn and grow.

Good evening Lake School community! I hope you all had a great weekend. I want to start by expressing our gratitude to our new interim principal, Mrs. Tefs, for her hard work and dedication over the past two weeks. She has hit the ground running and has already made a positive impact on our school. Thank you, Mrs. Tefs! I'm thrilled to announce that our annual coin drive was a huge success! We raised an all-time record total of $1501.93! Fifth grade brought in the most with over $500. Great job, fifth graders! On Tuesday the second and third graders will be heading to the Orland library to check out some wonderful books. And later that day, there will be a board meeting at 3:15 pm in the staff room. On Wednesday, the third through sixth grade Nature Bowl team will be traveling to the Nimbus Fish Hatchery for the annual Nature Bowl competition. This is also a minimum day with a 12:15 dismissal time. Finally, on Friday, our fifth graders will be taking a field trip to the Planetarium in Redding. The 7th and 8th grade girls and boys softball teams also have a home game versus Plaza, starting at 12:45. That's all for now. Thank you for your continued support and have a great week!"]

In honor of this week's Book Fair, here are a couple of my favorite quotes on the power and importance of reading:
"Reading is to the mind, what exercise is to the body." -Richard Steele
"A book is a gift you can open again and again." -Garrison Keillor
Thank you for your time, and we look forward to a great week ahead!
